Dr. Balázs Fürjes graduated from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Faculty of Law and Political Sciences with a Juris Doctor degree in 1997. He speaks English fluently.
He is a lawyer by profession and worked in the private sector as a senior executive in real estate development and legal counsel for 15 years.
In all governments led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán he has been responsible for the development of Budapest and delivering large scale urban projects from university campuses through major sport venues to public transport facilities. He was also the chairman of the Budapest 2024 Olympic bid appointed by the Hungarian Olympic Committee and the Municipality of Budapest.
From 2018 to 2022 he worked as State Secretary, being responsible for the development of Budapest and the urban agglomeration and Government Commissioner, responsible for major Budapest public developments and international sport bids.
Since May 2022 he has been Deputy Minister and Parliamentary State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office.
