Flandria kiemelt szerepet tölt be a Belgiummal fenntartott gazdasági kapcsolatainkban: a magyar-belga kereskedelmi forgalomban Flandria hagyományosan háromnegyed arányú részesedést képvisel. 2023-ban Flandria 2,6 milliárd euró értékben exportált Magyarországra, míg a hazánkból érkező import meghaladta a 2 milliárd eurót.
A VB keretében a magyar kormány immár 30 éve folytat aktív együttműködést Flandriával. A Bizottság munkáját projekt alapon folytatja, meghatározott tevékenységekre fókuszálva, ami közös megoldásokat eredményez korunk közös kihívásaira, erősítve a kölcsönös érdekeken alapuló hosszú távú együttműködést. Meggyőződésünk, hogy a belga és a magyar EU-s elnökséget illetően, továbbá a gazdaság, a zöld átállás, a kutatás és innováció, valamint a kultúra terén megfogalmazott jelenlegi 17 projekt aktívan hozzájárul közös munkánk erősítéséhez, és ösztönözni tudjuk a fejlődést kétoldalú kapcsolataink terén a 2024-2026 közötti időszakban is.
Mindehhez hozzájárul a 2024. július 1-jétől esedékes magyar EU elnökség is, amelynek keretében számos kiemelkedő kulturális program kerül megrendezésre, mint a Glassification.hu kortárs magyar üvegművészeti kiállítás a brüsszeli Liszt Intézet Magyar Kulturális Központban, valamint a „Hidrogén, a jövő energiahordozója” című egynapos hidrogén workshop az Antwerpen-Brugge kikötőben.
A VB ülés végén a felek a 12. ülés jegyzőkönyvének aláírásával erősítették meg elkötelezettségüket a VB keretében folytatott közös munka iránt.
A VB ülés margóján Lengyel Miklós helyettes államtitkár kétoldalú megbeszélést folytatott Jeroen Overmeer, Jan Jambon flamand regionális miniszterelnök kabinetfőnökével.

The 12th Session of the Hungarian–Flemish Joint Commission took place in Brussels
The 12th Session of the Hungarian-Flemish Joint Commission (JC) was held in Brussels on the 13th June 2024 and was chaired by Miklós Lengyel, Deputy State Secretary for Trainings, Scholarship Programmes and Science Diplomacy and Julie Bynens, Secretary General of the Flanders Chancellery & Foreign Office.
Flanders plays a key role in our economic relations with Belgium: traditionally, Flanders represents three-fourth of our trade volume with Belgium. In 2023, Flanders exported 2.6 billion euros to Hungary, while imports from Hungary exceeded 2 billion euros.
In the framework of the Joint Commission, the Hungarian government has had an active cooperation with Flanders for 30 years. The Joint Commission’s work will be continued on a project basis, focusing on specific actions that will lead to common solutions to the common challenges of our time, strengthening long-term cooperation based on mutual interests. We are convinced that the current 17 projects identified regarding the EU Presidency of Belgium and Hungary and in the areas of economy, green transition, research and innovation, and culture will actively contribute to the strengthening of our mutual work and we could encourage the development of our bilateral relations in the period of 2024-2026, as well.
The upcoming Hungarian EU Presidency from 1st July will also contribute to the already excellent relations between Hungary and Flanders with a number of outstanding cultural events such as the Glassification.hu contemporary Hungarian glass art exhibition at the Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre in Brussels and the one-day hydrogen workshop titled ‘Hydrogen, the energy carrier of the future’ at the Antwerp-Bruges Port.
At the end of the meeting, the Sides signed the Protocol of the 12th Session as a testament of their strong commitment to the joint work in the framework of the Joint Commission.
On the margins of the Session, Miklós Lengyel, Deputy State Secretary held a bilateral meeting with Jeroen Overmeer, Chief of Staff of the Flemish Regional Minister-President, Jan Jambon.
