At the meeting, the representatives reviewed bilateral political and economic relations. Péter Sztáray emphasized that Hungary remains a committed supporter of the European integration of North Macedonia. The assistance of a senior Hungarian expert in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs constitutes an added value to our political support. In the field of economic cooperation, the results are encouraging, bilateral trade grew dynamically in the past years. The parties agreed to speed up the preparation for the next session of the Joint Economic Committee in order to review the results of the economic cooperation and to identify possible areas and goals for further progress. State Secretary Sztáray highlighted the field of the EU’s pre-accession projects as a potential area for further cooperation, in which Hungary is ready to share its experience with North Macedonia.

Péter Sztáray assessed that Hungary remains a popular destination among young people of North Macedonia wishing to study abroad. Through the scholarships offered within the framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Program, 20 students from North Macedonia have the opportunity to start their higher education in our country every year.

The partners thanked Hungary for supporting the work of the border guards of North Macedonia in the fight against illegal migration since January 2016. The 65th Hungarian police contingent arrived to the country yesterday.
