Dr. Lakatos István helyettes államtitkár urat 2026. augusztus 18-án irodájában fogadta Christine Bradley, az ENSZ Terrorizmus Ellenes Hivatalának (UNOCT) budapesti Regionális Programtámogató Irodavezetője.
A találkozó lehetőséget adott arra, hogy a Magyarország és UNOCT közötti stratégiai kapcsolat fontosságáról, valamint a budapesti iroda jövőjéről is egyeztethessenek a felek.
A megbeszélés során Christine Bradley elmondta, hogy a budapesti a második legnagyobb UNOCT iroda a New York-i központ után, és több ízben kihangsúlyozta az iroda elengedhetetlen szerepét a programtámogató, koordinációs és operatív irányítás rendkívül hatékony elvégzésében.
Az irodavezető ismertette a UNOCT által az elkövetkező időszakban megvalósítani tervezett eseményeket, majd a felek átbeszélték a Külügyminisztérium és a UNOCT közötti jövőbeni együttműködési lehetőségeket.
Dr. Lakatos István hangsúlyozta, hogy hazánk elkötelezett a multilateralizmus iránt, majd biztosította az irodavezetőt arról, hogy a budapesti ENSZ-irodák működése és a velük való szoros partnerség a magyar kormány számára továbbra is kiemelt jelentőséggel bír.
Az UNOCT az ENSZ Globális Terrorizmusellenes Koordinációs Megállapodás tagjaival együttműködve törekszik a terrorizmus és az azt kiváltó erőszakos szélsőségesség terjedésének megelőzésére és leküzdésére.
Az ENSZ Közgyűlése 2006. szeptember 8-án konszenzussal fogadta el az ENSZ globális terrorizmusellenes stratégiáját. A stratégia egyedülálló globális eszköz, amelynek célja a terrorizmus elleni nemzeti, regionális és nemzetközi erőfeszítések fokozása. A Közgyűlés kétévente felülvizsgálja a stratégiát, így az a tagállamok terrorizmusellenes prioritásaihoz igazodó, folyamatosan frissülő dokumentummá válik.

Deputy State Secretary Dr. István Lakatos met with Christine Bradley, head of the Regional Program Support Office in Budapest of the United Nations Office on Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), in her office on Aug. 18, 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of the strategic relationship between Hungary and UNOCT, as well as the future of the Budapest office. During the discussion, Christine Bradley noted that the it is the second-largest UNOCT office after the New York headquarters, and she emphasized the office’s indispensable role in carrying out program support, coordination, and operational management with exceptional efficiency.
The office director outlined the events UNOCT plans to organize in the coming period and they discussed future opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNOCT.
Deputy State Secretary Dr. István Lakatos emphasized that Hungary is committed to multilateralism and assured Christine Bradley that the operation of the UNoffices in Budapest and close partnership with them remain of paramount importance to the Hungarian government.
UNOCT works together with the members of United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact to prevent and counter terrorism and the underlying spread of violent extremism.
The UN General Assembly adopted by consensus the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy on Sept. 8, 2006. The strategy is a unique global instrument to enhance national, regional and international efforts to counter terrorism. The General Assembly reviews the Strategy every two years, making it a living document attuned to Member States’ counter-terrorism priorities.
